Dr. Zuckerman can help you add volume to a weak or recessed chin with his non-surgical chin augmentation filler treatment using injectable products such as Voluma XC or Radiesse. This treatment may be a good option for those not ready for surgical chin augmentation or for those with only a mild issue. This treatment can also help diminish the appearance of a double chin or round an overly angular chin.
Dr. Zuckerman typically injects one to two vials of either filler listed above and places the product deep into the tissues near the bone. Other options to help improve the appearance of the chin area may be non-surgical double chin removal with injectable Kybella or submental (neck or under chin) liposuction.
Key Aspects of Treatment

Non-Surgical Chin Augmentation Recommended Regimen
Most patients require one treatment per year to maintain a continual effect.
Non-Surgical Chin Augmentation Longevity
Non-surgical chin augmentation filler results are visible immediately and finalizes within a couple of days. It can last up to two years, and patients reliably get at least one year.
Non-Surgical Chin Augmentation Procedure Time
20 – 30 minutes per treatment
Non-Surgical Chin Augmentation Pretreatment Guidelines
Dr. Zuckerman recommends patients take the following precautions before undergoing non-surgical chin augmentation to minimize bruising: no NSAIDs such aspirin or ibuprofen within a couple days before a day after, don’t drink alcohol to excess a day before and a day before, refraining from lying flat or working out within 2 hours after injection.
Non-Surgical Chin Augmentation Recovery (Downtime)
This treatment involves little to no downtime, and patients often return to work immediately after workday treatment. There may be slight bleeding or redness at the injection sites, but these will resolve within a few hours.
Non-Surgical Chin Augmentation Associated Risks
Injections with Radiesse and Voluma are overwhelmingly safe, especially when performed by an expert injector such as Dr. Zuckerman. However, injections for this treatment are placed deep into the tissue, and as a result, it is best to visit a board-certified plastic surgeon who is an expert in the anatomy of the lower face. Possible complications, although rare, include:
- Redness
- Swelling
- Temporary Numbness
