Forehead antiwrinkle treatments using a musculoparalytic like Botox Cosmetic are the most common injectable treatments in Dr. Zuckerman’s practice and nationwide.
Wrinkles are generally the product of repeated contractions over time due to a patient’s facial expressions. This treatment helps prevent future wrinkle formation and transverse (horizontal) lines in the forehead by temporarily paralyzing targeted forehead muscles. In addition, Dr. Zuckerman’s patients often find that existing fine lines and wrinkles are eliminated when the area fully relaxes after undergoing treatment.
Key Aspects of Treatment

Forehead Antiwrinkle Treatment Recommended Regimen
Most patients require three to four treatments per year to maintain a continual effect.
Forehead Antiwrinkle Treatment Longevity
Treatment takes approximately one week to set in and lasts three to four months.
Forehead Antiwrinkle Treatment Procedure Time
10 – 20 minutes per treatment (Often combined with Glabella “11’s” Treatment and Crow’s Feet Treatment)
Forehead Antiwrinkle Treatment Pretreatment Guidelines
Dr. Zuckerman recommends patients take the following precautions before undergoing forehead antiwrinkle treatment to minimize bruising: no NSAIDs such aspirin or ibuprofen within a couple days before a day after, don’t drink alcohol to excess a day before and a day before, refraining from lying flat or working out within 2 hours after injection.
Forehead Antiwrinkle Treatment Recovery (Downtime)
This treatment involves little to no downtime, and patients often return to work immediately after treatment. There may be slight bleeding or redness at the injection sites, but these will resolve within a few hours.
Forehead Antiwrinkle Treatment Associated Risks
Forehead antiwrinkle injections using Botox have been performed for over fifteen years and are overwhelmingly popular. However, treating these lines is still a medical procedure using a paralytic agent and involves some risks. After poor treatment by other practitioners, Dr. Zuckerman has been asked to treat patients with complications such as a drooping eyelid, changes in eyebrow shape, or those appearing overdone.
Unfortunately, if performed improperly, Botox treatment may simply require waiting three to four months for the treatment effect to diminish. Consequently, Dr. Zuckerman recommends undergoing safe treatment in sterile, medical environment the first time around by visiting a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Frequently Asked Questions About Forehead Antiwrinkle Treatment
Dr. Zuckerman will recommend a number of units to you for this treatment based on your age and the strength of your forehead muscles. Generally speaking, this area receives somewhere in the range of 10 to 20 units. For first or second-time patients, Dr. Zuckerman often recommends that you make a follow-up appointment 8 to 14 days after treatment.
