Dr. Zuckerman uses the injectable Hyaluronic Acid filler Restylane-L to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles, folds and sunken tear troughs. This injectable filler is similar to the Juvederm family of products made by Allergan, but is manufactured by a different company.
A hollowed out or tired appearance under the eyes is a common sign of aging due to the atrophy of orbital fat at the junction between the lower eyelid and cheek. To rejuvenate this area, Restylane-L is Dr. Zuckerman’s dermal filler of choice, and he injects it this filler deep into the tissue, near the bone. The product itself contains lidocaine, an anesthetic, for the comfort of the patient during Restylane injections, and Dr. Zuckerman additionally applies a second topical anesthetic before treatment.
At Zuckerman Plastic Surgery, we also offer the entire line of Restylane products, including Lyft for cheek augmentation, Silk for lip augmentation and Refyne and Defyne for nasolabial folds and marionette lines.

A few precautions before undergoing Restylane filler injections are techniques to minimize bruising: no NSAIDs such aspirin or ibuprofen within a couple days before and a day after; don’t drink alcohol to excess a day before and a day after; refrain from lying flat or working out within 2 hours after injection. Makeup can be worn the day following treatment.
Frequently Asked Questions About Restylane-L
Restylane, Juvederm, and Voluma are somewhat similar given that they are all Hyaluronic Acid fillers and all can be used in this area. Dr. Zuckerman’s product of choice for tear trough rejuvenation is Restylane-L, because it absorbs less water and therefore leads to less swelling in the sensitive under-eye area.
Dr. Zuckerman works to ensure that your injectable treatment will not be painful. Even though Restylane-L is injected deep into the tissue, the product itself contains an anesthetic, lidocaine, and Dr. Zuckerman applies a second topical anesthetic before treatment. The patient feels little to no discomfort during the tear trough injections.
If you visit Zuckerman Plastic Surgery for your injectable treatment, you can be certain that Dr. Zuckerman will recommend and perform the best treatment option for you in a safe and comfortable manner. In general, the use of injectable fillers has become so widespread that unfortunately not only may your injector not be a board-certified physician, if you undergo injections in a non-medical setting, an injector may have little formal medical training. Dr. Zuckerman recommends you visit a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist for these injections (if you aren’t able to visit Zuckerman Plastic Surgery!). In New York City, there many options for injectables treatments, and many medical offices also offer injections by a registered nurse or physician’s assistant (PA), often at a lower price. These injectors are required to be overseen by a physician, so if you are considering these practitioners due to price, Dr. Zuckerman recommends that you confirm with the office ahead of time that there is a physician on the premises and inquire to what degree the physician oversees the injector’s activities.
