Dr. Zuckerman performs a non-surgical rhinoplasty, or liquid rhinoplasty, to achieve a similar result to a common technique in surgical rhinoplasty, or nose surgery. He injects Juvederm Ultra Plus XC both above and below the dorsal hump to camouflage it and smooth out the dorsal contour in profile. While surgery is able to achieve a permanent elimination of the dorsal hump, non-surgical rhinoplasty is a good option for those with a mild dorsal hump or who not yet ready for surgery.
Note: with any remaining Juvederm, Dr. Zuckerman can also inject filler into the lips for augmentation or nasolabial folds (the “parentheses” lines around the mouth) if desired.
Key Aspects of Treatment
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Recommended Regimen
Most patients require one treatment per year to maintain a continual effect.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Longevity
Treatment takes three days to one week to set in and can last up to one year.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Procedure Time
20 minutes per treatment
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Pretreatment Guidelines
Dr. Zuckerman recommends patients take the following precautions before undergoing non-surgical rhinoplasty to minimize bruising: no NSAIDs such aspirin or ibuprofen within a couple days before a day after, don’t drink alcohol to excess a day before and a day before, refraining from lying flat or working out within 2 hours after injection.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Recovery (Downtime)
Some patients experience redness or minimal bruising on the bridge of the nose post-treatment, which generally resolve within 24-48 hours. Most often, Dr. Zuckerman is able to minimize or eliminate such side effects, and his patients often go straight back to work after a day-time treatment.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Associated Risks
Non-surgical rhinoplasty involves the injection of Hyaluronic Acid filler, which is very safe. The most common “risk” is that patients are not happy with their injector’s result, so it is important to visit an experienced board-certified physician, ideally a plastic surgeon like Dr. Zuckerman.
A suboptimal result may include bumps or unevenness. Some patients may be allergic to the filler, and while a rare event, a board-certified physician’s office will be able to safely and quickly reverse the treatment to eliminate the Hyaluronic Acid.
Stay safe by visiting a board-certified plastic surgeon for your treatment. Reversal of the treatment can also be done in the case of a patient with regrets, which is uncommon but an option.
