4 Tips for Finding Your Best Buttock Augmentation (Brazilian Butt Lift) Surgeon
How can you identify the best Brazilian Butt Lift surgeon for your procedure?
How can you discern if a plastic surgeon will achieve the curves you desire for your buttock augmentation (Brazilian Butt Lift)? Because I perform this procedure frequently, I look at before and after results with a trained, critical eye. I’d like to share some techniques to identify talented and experienced surgeons from their before and after results. I use some of my own Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) before and after results to demonstrate these ideas.
Only consider board-certified plastic surgeons in the U.S. for your buttock augmentation.
Plastic surgery training is a grueling six years and involves performing hundreds of cosmetic procedures. Trainees learn not only how to create the best aesthetic outcomes, but also how to react when unexpected events transpire in the operating room. A plastic surgeon attains certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which a cosmetic surgeon does not. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) maintains a “surgeon finder”, which is a great way to find a qualified surgeon. Please be skeptical of cosmetic surgery forums and other commercial websites. Many of these resources do not represent professional surgical organizations, may only identify paid listings ambiguously or not at all, and may advertise non-surgically trained physicians to perform plastic surgery procedures.
In addition, buttock augmentation is a procedure for which some patients attempt to travel to another country to undergo surgery. I do not recommend this under any circumstances. Medical tourism in this case is dangerous, and there are regularly serious complications and deaths outside the U.S. Buttock augmentation is extraordinarily safe when performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon, but in the wrong hands, fat could be grafted to the wrong locations and result in blood clots or other serious, possibly fatal, surgical complications. Attempting to save a few thousand dollars up front can result in a future corrective surgery bill that is more expensive than the original. I’m not often called into the Emergency Room, but when I am, it can be due to complications from a surgery performed outside the U.S. Remember, these practitioners may only be showing their positive outcomes, not their complications, and may not be properly trained or maintain a sterile environment.
Tip 1: The plastic surgeon should create great small and large buttock augmentations.
The techniques I use to create small to moderate buttock augmentations are different from those used in larger augmentations. Smaller argumentations are in some sense easier, but all cosmetic plastic surgery procedures are “made to order”: each treatment plan I create is highly customized and will involve a unique set of techniques. The best Brazilian Butt Lift surgeons are able to great good outcomes for a range of body types and desired augmentation sizes. A good way to assess this ability is to look for both high quality small and large buttocks augmentations in before and after results, even if you desire one or the other.liposuction
Tip 2: The plastic surgeon should be able to create high-quality liposuction outcomes in addition to buttock augmentation.
Half of the Brazilian Butt Lift is liposuction, and it is as important that your surgeon be talented with a liposuction cannula as well as with fat grafting. The most common reasons for reoperation after liposuction are a suboptimal contour. If too much fat is removed, divots or dumps may be left. The plastic surgeon should be able to create a smooth, flat abdomen. Another sign of a talented liposuction surgeon is that he/she is able to create a distinct projection of the buttocks from the lower back. I’ve achieved both attributes for the patient at right.
Tip 3: The plastic surgeon should be able to address asymmetry or deficits of projection to create round, natural-looking buttocks for Brazilian Butt Lifts.
In addition to augmenting the overall size and projection of the buttocks, many patients are interested in correcting a particular aesthetic issue such as asymmetry or a lack of fullness in an area of the buttocks. The surgeon should be able to effectively correct these issues. The patient at left suffered from excess deposits of fat of the flanks and lower back leading to a square-shape to the buttocks. I was able to effectively eliminate those deposits and graft the fat to the buttocks creating a rounder, more feminine shape.
Tip 4: The plastic surgeon should create a slim, feminine waistline and hourglass figure as part of the Brazilian Butt Lift.
Both the waist and buttocks are important to your “hourglass”. A talented Brazilian Butt Lift surgeon is able to create a slim, feminine waist and shapely buttocks thereby augmenting both the buttocks themselves and the hourglass as a whole. The patient at right is the same above, but this is the frontal view of her result. Via liposuction alone, I was able to dramatically transform her midsection giving her a beautiful slim waist and hourglass. I removed about 3 liters of fat from the abdomen, the flanks (love handles), and the back as noted above.
