Dr. Zuckerman's Guide to Brow Lift Surgery

Dr. Zuckerman can help you correct deep furrows and droopiness in the brow with a brow lift, an effective aesthetic enhancement procedure designed to give you a more youthful, refreshed appearance. A brow lift is also known as a forehead lift and addresses wrinkles and fine lines in the forehead. As we age, furrows and frown lines in the forehead region can have an effect on the entire face, giving you an older, tired appearance. Dr. Zuckerman can reverse these effects with a brow lift and significantly reduce signs of age and exhaustion. He is one of the most experienced in the region and is highly adept at providing facial plastic surgery procedures such as brow lift with results that appear natural, as though you’ve never had work done.

The Surgery

Candidates for Dr. Zuckerman's brow lift are typically those who are affected by furrows and creases in the forehead and sagginess around the eyebrows. Most patients who have brow lift surgery are between 40 and 50 years old; however, some patients experience sagging skin and furrows around the eyebrows in their 20′s and 30′s as the result of heredity, and these individuals may also benefit from a brow lift. Dr. Zuckerman will meet with you in an initial consultation to discuss all aspects of the brow lift procedure and address your questions and concerns.

The most traditional brow lift surgery technique involves a discreet incision made just above the hairline. Excess fat and skin are removed, and the remaining skin and underlying muscles are tightened to create a smoother, wrinkle-free appearance.

Brow lift surgery can also be performed endoscopically, using a small camera and tiny surgical instruments. Incisions are typically less than an inch in length with the endoscopic method, and recovery time is minimal.

With either brow lift technique, scarring is virtually invisible and easily hidden.

Dr. Zuckerman usually performs brow lift surgery as an outpatient procedure using a local anesthetic and a mild sedative. The procedure can be performed at one of Dr. Zuckerman's operating rooms in midtown Manhattan. Certified by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF), these operatories are fully equipped surgical facilities and adhere to the highest standards of care.

Patients will need to keep the head elevated for several days after brow lift surgery to minimize swelling. Numbness, bruising, and discomfort are common side effects after the procedure, but these should dissipate after a few days and any pain can be managed with medication. Patients can typically resume normal daily activities about 7 to 10 days following a brow lift procedure. Less recovery time will be needed after an endoscopic brow lift. Activities that increase blood pressure and strenuous exercise should be avoided for several weeks.

After brow lift surgery, patients should have a more youthful, refreshed appearance.

Safety is Dr. Zuckerman's top priority, and he and his medical staff will take every precaution to minimize risks and ensure a smooth, safe procedure and recovery process. He will discuss the risks and benefits of brow lift surgery, as well as every step of the procedure with you, from pre-operative details to after-care information, prior to the procedure.
