Before and after comparison of one of Dr. Zuckerman’s Restylane-L tear trough rejuvenation patients in New York City. Patient treated with 1cc of Restylane-L under each eye. Images taken on the day of treatment.
Dr. Zuckerman can help you reduce dark circles, regardless of the age of the patient, with under eye dermal filler injections. Done correctly, it beautifully eases the transition from the lower eyelid into the cheek, eliminating shadow and the appearance of hollowness. Filler in this area is also long lasting: up to 1 year. For this sensitive area, Dr. Zuckerman uses Restylane-L, a Hyaluronic Acid filler with lidocaine, which is FDA-approved for treating the under eye area. It is also the lease hydrophilic (absorbs the least amount of water) of Hyaluronic Acid fillers, and therefore minimizes swelling. Dr. Zuckerman injects deep into the tissues, near the bone, and can inject up to 1cc+ of filler per eye. This treatment helps a patient appear rested and refreshed both when the face is at rest and while smiling or otherwise facially animating.

Most patients require one treatment per year to maintain a continual effect.
Treatment is visible immediately, but takes approximately one week to ten days to set in. It lasts up to one year. Results will vary depending on how much product Dr. Zuckerman injects and how quickly the patient metabolizes Hyaluronic Acid.
10 – 20 minutes per treatment
Ideally, Dr. Zuckerman recommends that patients avoid ibuprofen / aspirin two days before and after treatment, avoid excess alcohol one day before and after, and skip intensive physical activity the day of treatment if possible. Please inquire to Dr. Zuckerman if you think you may not be able to undergo treatment due to these instructions, but most patients are able to successfully do so even if not all these criteria are fulfilled.
Tear trough rejuvenation is a relatively easy treatment that allows most patients to return to work immediately after a daytime appointment. There may be mild bruising or swelling, which in some cases can last up to a week. More often, these post-treatment effects resolve within a few days. Dr. Zuckerman is also able to minimize bruising using his techniques and also by icing the affected area post treatment. Makeup can be applied if needed after treatment, but Dr. Zuckerman does recommend avoiding it the day of treatment if possible.
This treatment is overwhelmingly safe in the hands of an expert injector like Dr. Zuckerman but involves injections deep into the sensitive tissues around the eyes. As such, it is a more advanced injection technique, and Dr. Zuckerman recommends you visit a board-certified plastic surgeon for your treatment. Some risks, although rare in the hands of an experienced injector, are:
Technically speaking, yes it is a risk, but a very rare and remote one in general, and even less likely in the hands of an expert injector like Dr. Zuckerman, a board-certified plastic surgeon who is very familiar with the anatomy of the face. If you are at all worried, be sure to visit an expert for this treatment.
