Downtime / Recovery
This treatment involves little to no downtime, and patients often return to work immediately after treatment. There may be slight bleeding, redness, or swelling at the injection sites, but these will resolve within a few hours and are relatively well hidden under the chin.
Required Level of Skill
Low to medium: the grid pattern of injections used is intricate but is similar to a template to follow.
Level of Discomfort
None to low: Dr. Zuckerman applies a topical anesthetic (numbing cream) before treatment to eliminate patient discomfort.
Kybella® injections area overwhelmingly safe, but in the hands of an inexperienced injector, or a non-board certified physician who is unfamiliar with anatomy of the area, rare complications include:
• Numbness in the injected area
• Nerve injury in the jaw
• Trouble swallowing
Generally speaking, as a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Zuckerman will avoid such rare complications.
