The Surgery

MId-Face Lift

Wrinkles, excess skin and fat, undereye bags, and other signs of age that affect the nasolabial area, eyes, cheeks, and corners of the mouth can be addressed with a mid-face lift. Patients who have this procedure with Dr. Zuckerman are often those with relatively good skin elasticity and individuals who are not looking for results that are better attained with a full face lift procedure.

A traditional mid-face lift procedure involves small incisions made within the hairline around the temples, and sometimes in the lower eyelid and in the mouth. Fat and muscle tissue are adjusted and the skin of the mid-face is pulled up for a smoother appearance. Mid-face lift surgery typically takes about two hours to complete under general anesthesia. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis.

Mid-face lift procedures can involve a variety of techniques, including endoscopic surgery which involves smaller incisions and typically a shorter recovery period. Dr. Zuckerman will discuss techniques that may be used at your initial consultation.

The mid-face lift can be performed at one of Dr. Zuckerman's operating rooms in midtown Manhattan. These operatories are certified by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF), signifying our adherence to the highest standard of care.

Recovery

Some swelling, bruising, and discomfort can be expected in the days following mid-face lift surgery; however, any pain can be alleviated with medication. Mid-face lift patients can usually return to normal daily routines after about a week. Strenuous activity should be avoided for several weeks after surgery, and care should be taken to protect the face from potential harm. Any scarring from the procedure should be well-hidden within the hairline and/or natural creases in the face.

Risks

Dr. Zuckerman takes every precaution to maximize your protection and ensure the safe and effective outcome of your mid-face lift surgery. Dr. Zuckerman and his entire staff are well-trained and highly experienced, and we will work diligently to make sure your entire treatment process is undertaken with the utmost regard for safety.
