With this treatment, Dr. Zuckerman addresses aging in the hand characterized by loss of subcutaneous fat and by atrophy of the intrinsic muscles of the hand, which puts the metacarpal bones, tendons and veins into sharp relief. To restore some of the subcutaneous volume, Dr. Zuckerman injects Radiesse, an injectable filler. I inject just beneath the skin between where the tendons and bones sit and then massage the area to diffuse the filler over the whole back of the hand. This treatment lasts up to a year, and it makes a dramatic difference in the aesthetic appearance of the hand.

Most patients require one treatment per year to maintain a continual effect.
Treatment is visible immediately and lasts up to one year. With Radiesse, the injectable acts as a filler for the first three months. Afterward the body slowly metabolizes the injectable, and it stimulates the body’s own collagen production.
20 – 30 minutes per treatment
Dr. Zuckerman recommends patients take the following precautions before undergoing hand rejuvenation to minimize bruising: no NSAIDs such aspirin or ibuprofen within a couple days before a day after, don’t drink alcohol to excess a day before and a day before, refraining from lying flat or working out within 2 hours after injection.
There is little to no downtime after this treatment. Patients’ hands may appear a bit red or irritated, especially near the injection sites, but such issues should resolve within a matter of hours.
Hand rejuvenation is overwhelmingly safe when performed by an expert who is aware of the anatomy of the hand. In such case, there are few risks as a result. However, there are muscles, tendons, arteries/veins, are in close proximity in the hand, and the hand is one of the most important organs in the body. As a result, please visit a board-certified plastic surgeon such as Dr. Zuckerman for this treatment. Possible, mostly minor risks, include redness, itching, swelling or infection at the injection sites.
