“MINI“ TUMMY TUCK VERSUS FULL TUMMY TUCK BY DR. ZUCKERMAN IN NEW YORK CITY

This image best explains the difference between a mini tummy tuck and a full tummy tuck. The mini tummy tuck has a smaller scar but the correction it can procedure is more limited, mostly below the belly button.

Dr. Zuckerman uses one of three main incision placements for breast augmentation surgery: periareolar (around the nipple), transaxiliary, and inframammary fold incision.

Prospective tummy tuck patients of Dr. Zuckerman’s often inquire about undergoing a mini-tummy tuck to minimize the postoperative scar. The diagram above best explains the differences between the two procedures, but essentially, a mini tummy tuck has a smaller scar but provides more limited correction, largely below the belly button. The majority of Dr. Zuckerman’s patients actually need a full tummy tuck, and it’s important not to “settle for” the mini tummy tuck if you actually need a full abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). Which one you should undergo depends primarily on a few factors:

  1.  Much loose and overhanging skin you have
  2. Do you have muscle separation or a bulging abdomen above the belly button?
  3. Do you have stretch marks above the belly button?
  4. Are you happy with your belly button?

After an in-person consultation where Dr. Zuckerman examines you, he will discuss all the facets of your case, and together you will decide which procedure suits you better.
